Case Study: Golf Club Group

We work with a golf club group, which operates across the UK, from Leeds to Eastbourne. With 13 sites and around 200 tonnes of waste generated annually, managing waste efficiently across multiple locations was becoming increasingly complex.

Before working with Wastesolve, waste management was handled independently at each site. This meant multiple contractors, varying service levels, and no consistent approach across the business.

The result was a lack of visibility, limited control, and uncertainty around compliance. Without centralised reporting, it was difficult to understand overall waste performance or identify opportunities for improvement.

The Challenge

Managing waste across multiple sites created several operational challenges:

  • No central oversight of waste data or reporting

  • Multiple suppliers and inconsistent service delivery

  • Limited visibility of recycling performance

  • Uncertainty around compliance with evolving regulations

  • Inefficient processes and administrative burden

There were also no defined sustainability goals in place at the time, making it harder to implement a structured, forward-thinking waste strategy.

The Solution

Wastesolve implemented a fully managed, nationwide waste solution designed to simplify operations and improve visibility.

This included:

  • A complete waste management service covering general waste, recycling, food and glass

  • Support for additional requirements such as greenkeeping waste, refurbishments and site clearances

  • Regular site reviews to ensure bins and collections matched seasonal demand

  • A centralised reporting structure to provide full visibility across all sites

  • Dedicated account management with a single point of contact

By consolidating multiple suppliers into one managed service, Wastesolve created a consistent and scalable approach across all locations.

We have introduced cooking oil recycling through the existing cooking oil supplier, which wasn’t previously being consistently recorded and monitored .

Approach & Implementation

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, each site was reviewed individually to ensure the right waste streams, bin configurations, and collection schedules were in place.  A key focus was on:

  • Improving recycling rates through better segregation

  • Ensuring compliance with current legislation, including Simpler Recycling requirements

  • Supporting site teams with practical, on-the-ground account management

  • Adjusting services in line with seasonal fluctuations across golf clubs

  • This tailored approach ensured that each site operated efficiently while still contributing to a consistent national strategy.

The Results

While cost savings were not the primary driver, the impact of the partnership has been significant across operations:

  • Improved efficiency through a single supplier and streamlined processes

  • Increased recycling across multiple sites

  • Full visibility of waste data with centralised reporting

  • Stronger compliance with evolving waste regulations

  • Reduced administrative burden with one point of contact

  • Faster issue resolution with proactive account management

Most importantly, the solution has simplified waste management for the business, allowing them to focus on running their sites rather than managing multiple contractors.
